From Goodreads:

Hope Carson may not look like a survivor, but she has escaped an abusive ex-husband and recovered from a vicious assault. Now she endures the painful memories and suspicious rumors surrounding her involvement in the attack. Her ex is a cop, so the last people she trusts are law enforcement officials—and she certainly doesn’t trust how the local DA makes her feel inside.

Remy Jennings should know better. He has no business falling for a woman who he suspects may have a deeply troubled mind. And even if he did make a move, she’d bolt like a frightened rabbit. But how can he deny a burning desire that threatens to consume him? As Hope’s past catches up with her in the worst way, Remy is determined to break through her defenses, earn her trust, and keep her safe in his arms—before it’s too late.

My Thoughts:

The second book in the Ash Trilogy was even better than the first! Is that possible? Obviously it is! I knew that Hope was going to be one of my favorite characters when we first met her in If You Hear Her, but she is seriously a great character. She's been victimized by her bastard ex in more than one way and the growth that she goes through in this book is amazing.

Her budding relationship with Remy Jennings is everything you want for her to have and experience. He is a good guy and he's incredibly protective of Hope. It's a really sweet romance.

There are some plot twists related to the murder in If You Hear Her, it would seem that the murderer is fascinated with Hope, but not because he wants to hurt her. *Interesting* Then there is Hope's scummy ex who shows up and tries to screw things up for Hope.

This book ends much like the first. Another unplanned murder with a coinciding set-up to try and deter the investigation. I'm looking forward to the third and final book in the Ash Trilogy, If You Know Her, where they mystery is *hopefully* solved and Law final gets his romance.

I gave this book a 5/5 rating! I loved it. You should definitely read this series by Shiloh Walker. Check out my review of the first book in this series, If You Hear Her.
