Sexy Saturday Read: Gotta Have It

I was recently provided with a copy of Gotta Have It by Babeland.com for review. Shop Babeland for all your naughty needs :)

Gotta Have It: 69 Stories of Sudden Sex
Edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel
Published by Cleis Press

Rachel Kramer Bussel has collected a wide and wild variety of original erotica stories that are deliciously short - just one orgasmic bite at a time. in 1.200 words or less, these authors explore every which way you can "get it on," including threesomes, sex toys, public sex, BDSM, fetishes, and much more. Get "Anal-yzed," learn "The Advantage of Working from Home," and spy some risque "Vacation Pictures." There are pecan rolls dripping in caramel and meals where lovers feast on nothing but each other. from crossword puzzles to Godzilla, these tales are perfect for reading aloud before you live out your own frisky fantasy. for those who like their sex quick and naughty, Gotta Have It has a host of erotic offerings to get you going.
- Synopsis from Goodreads

I have to say that I was disappointed in this collection. There was a lot of good writing, and a plenty of good sex, but I assumed from both the description and the cover art that this was actually "69 Stories of Sudden Sex", and that is not what it was.

There was some well written erotic prose, and a few stories of fetish and fantasy that never reached completion or release. There were stories that told of past events, rather than showing us a hot exchange in the present. But there were many of the 69 stories that were not stories of sex.

There was one story that clearly depicted a rape scene (Jarrett by Shane Allison) and I was very disappointed that it made it into this book. I read and re-read hoping I missed the part where the recipient was a willing participant but I never found it. This is one point I would love for someone to tell me I'm wrong about, if you've read it and determined something different than I did.

There were a few bright spots in the collection. My Top Three picks were:

Hors d'Oeuvre, by Stan Kent
Not on the Mouth, by Cole Riley
and Over His Shoulder by Maximilian Lagos

There were a few more good ones, but the bad ones were overwhelming, and too many of the stories weren't  what I would call sex stories.

All in all? I was disappointed. 2.5 out of 5 stars from me.

Blog Stalk & Fawk You Friday!

I'm linking up with Rockin' Mama for Blog Stalk Friday. And of course I'm also linking up with Fawk You Friday hosted by the amazing Boobies and Christy!

BWS tips button
Where to start?

Fawk You to pregnancy scares. It's not cool, not at all.

Fawk You to the little sister's boyfriend. He's too old for her. I've never liked it, and I really don't like that he now comes to every family gathering including my dad's birthday dinner at my house tonight! Grr... back off kid, date someone your own age!

Fawk You to busy schedules!! I haven't laid eyes on my best friend in two weeks! Agh! I'm going through withdrawals! (Seriously J, I'm shaking uncontrollably. We have to fix this!)

Fawk You to hard decisions. I'm looking for a new job because I need more money, but I love my current job, so it's really hard for me to want to leave. It's just a struggle right now in that area.

So how is everyone else doing this week? Link up with Fawk You Friday if you need to let off a little steam!

Negative, Thank God

So yesterday after work I went to the grocery store. While there I picked up a bottle of wine, and a pregnancy test. The bottle of wine was me symbolically daring the other to give me the results I didn't want.

I took my groceries in, put them away and peed on the stick. Then I waited.

Negative.

"Thank God!" I actually said this out loud to the empty room. This is only the second time in two years my BC pills have stopped my period altogether, so I was nervous.

J wasn't two minutes behind me, and while I had told myself I wasn't even going to tell him I'd been worried, it just kind of came out. I prefaced the whole conversation with the fact that I wasn't pregnant, pouring wine as I said it, I suppose to emphasize my conviction in the fact.

His initial response was good. "Oh wow babe, so you've had a stressful day I guess?" He gave me a hug and let out a big sigh. I could tell he didn't even realize he'd been holding his breath.

While I poured his wine he started talking to my cat and the nerves in his voice were audible.

"Sweetie," I said, "I'm not pregnant, you don't have to be stressed out." He laughed and asked how I knew he was feeling stressed.

"Because I can hear it in your voice just talking to the stupid cat." I was agitated, and of course I know it's because I had serious relief flooding through me along with the remnants of the anxiety from just a half hour earlier.

He walked over to hug me and says, "Babe, I love you. But I'm not ready for that."

So, I kinda lost it. "And I am? Why do guys act like just because I'm a girl I would want to get knocked up? That kid would be in my body for 9 months, I'm not ready for that either!"

He cut me off before I said something I'd rather not, apologizing profusely, "That's not what I meant, I'm sorry. I know that. Here, have your wine." I immediately knew I was overreacting. He was just as relieved as I was and he was experiencing everything I'd had all day to absorb in like 10 minutes.

I let him lead me to the sofa and took a long sip of the wine, very grateful that there was no child in my belly so that I could have it.

I have nothing important to say.

The title is the warning. I have nothing witty to write about, no big news to share or events to launch. I simply feel like blogging and so I'm going to. Feel free to stop reading. :)

So I've been doing a lot of scheduling and prioritizing this past week. My days at work are built around a checklist. I actually have a "schedule" for working on jewelry and crochet projects right now that demands I put at least ten hours a week into my side business.

We've cut the trivia gig down to once a month, which will probably be a good thing. I'm not going to pretend that I don't miss it though. My group of friends, myself included, are just so busy these days and we don't hang out like we used to. Hopefully soon schedules will start to let up so we can do stuff again, but who knows. People are planning weddings, and making other big life changes so maybe this is just a change I'm going to have to get used to.

Growing up sucks. I don't like cutting out fun things to make time for serious things. I love spending time with my boyfriend but I hate that we are both so busy there doesn't seem to be unscheduled time anymore. We've essentially got one night a week now that we can just hang out without doing anything, (and only because it's now part of the "schedule") but the rest of our days and evenings are accounted for. Even when we're together there is always something to be done.

I'm really ready for a vacation. Granted, it's going to be a stay-cation because I'm broke, but maybe I can at least have a few days with J that we don't have stuff that has to be done.

I'm ready for 5:00 to get here so I can get the things on my checklist done and go to bed early! I'm exhausted!

Busy times!

I've been so busy lately, trying to catch up and keep up at work. I've got about a half dozen projects in various stages of completion and there isn't a sign of a free weekend until 2012! I'm still here though!

I have a few reviews coming up soon, a couple of erotica anthologies and a remote controlled vibrator! (can't wait!) So hopefully I will have those reviews up and out in the next couple of weeks.

Is everyone else going as crazy as I am?

Dirty Little Secret #7

Dirty Little Secret is a weekly meme hosted by the girls at Under the Covers. Every Thursday they ask a question hoping to reveal everyone's dirty little secrets.

To participate in the meme all you need to do is:

1. Be a follower of Under the Covers.
2. Create a post in your blog taking the meme image (code above) and copy instructions.
3. Answer the question! This can be done in any way you like, post a video, write a post etc.
4. Then add your link on their post!

This weeks question:
"If you were the heroine of a novel, who would be your sidekick?"

If I were literally the heroine of a novel, my sidekick would be a never-ending cup of coffee, lol.
I think we're picking sidekicks from other books but I feel like my sidekick would be something more like the character Judy Greer played in the movie 27 Dresses. A non-committal smart-ass with a love for men :)

I would have to have someone to talk trash with after all!

I'm looking for someone who is pretty good with graphic design and picky people. I have this whole concept in my head, I just don't have the skills to create it in any program that I own.
